Ancient Future:
Finding Foundation in Forsaken Ruins
September 25-26,2008
This year the Northwest Youth Minister Seminar will explore practices in the life of Israel that are still useful for spiritual growth today.Although we may be familiar with Old Testament traditions, festivals, rituals, and feasts, most have not pursued extensively their deep meaning and spiritual significance for the life of the believer.
What was God trying to teach us about the Messiah and our life through Israel's traditions?
What can we learn from God’s directives to Israel designed to foster covenant faithfulness?
How can we teach godly tradition and godly family values in a world that lacks a respect for tradition?
In the same way that the early church built upon a Jewish legacy, we believe young people need healthy traditions as a way of cementing faithfulness to Christ. Our prayer is that the seminar will help youth leaders and ministers revisit the Old Testament with a view to appropriating some of Israel’s spiritual practices in the 21st century Church.
